Creswell Farm House

The house is located on a 22-hectare property that includes a 10 hectare yellow gum plantation.  The existing farmhouse sits on a rise with views towards Port Phillip Heads and more closely a large dam.  The house is home to three active boys and their busy parents and allows the boys to adventure and entertain themselves for hours on end.

The brief was to renovate the existing weatherboard farmhouse and provide a new master bed and ensuite, study and lounge room.  In addition, we were to renovate the kitchen, dining area and kids rumpus.  Outside we focused on providing outdoor spaces that were protected from strong southerly winds.  The solution was a sympathetic blend between the old and new integrated into the surrounding garden.

The design aimed to connect the existing with the new and redirect the entry to the back of the house through a meandering garden framed with the existing brickwork marked with the big bulls eye.

As you wander through the house you are constantly reminded of the surrounding landscape and its spectacular views.  Exterior materials will last the test of time and age gracefully.

I was lucky to work with an exceptional builder who was focused on the fine details and thrived on the challenges that come with renovating an old house, and working with family.
